A republic of 19 atolls comprising approximately 1200 beautiful coral islands situated in the Indian Ocean 450 miles South West of Sri Lanka. Whilst most of the islands are uninhabited some seventy have been developed as resorts, ranging from fairly basic to distinctly luxurious. The capital Malé lies close to the international airport on the North Malé atoll and is served by regular flights from the UK via the Middle East. Onward connections from Malé by ferry, catamaran, helicopter and light aircraft are available to all the resort Islands. Most resorts feature water sports including sailing and scuba diving and offer an opportunity to experience deep-sea fishing. Island hopping is also available and inexpensive. Weather

Amazingly beautiful weather almost all the year round. Expect temperatures around 30°C during the days and only falling to a mild 23°C at night. During the April to October period rainfall is higher, but the temperatures are much the same.
